Make your swaps on the Optimism network for lower transaction fees
MEW Mobile is a free, non-custodial, and open-source web3 mobile wallet built by the MyEtherWallet team. With MEW Mobile, users and developers can generate accounts, manage tokens and NFTs, and interact with DApps on Optimism. Follow the instructions in this guide in order to swap on Optimism!
Optimism Network is a platform designed to enhance Ethereum's scalability. Essentially, it operates like Ethereum, supporting similar assets and applications, but offers significantly lower transaction fees and faster speeds.
To conduct any transactions on the Optimism network, your wallet must contain ETH.
If you wish to trade your existing Ethereum assets on Optimism at lower costs, you need to first bridge your Ethereum tokens to the network.
Refer to our bridging guide for instructions on obtaining native Optimism ETH for gas and transferring tokens from Ethereum to Optimism.
Swaps on Optimism function just like those on Ethereum.
To buy ETH on your MEW Mobile, unlock your MEW Mobile and make sure you are on the Optimism network at the top left.
You can change the network by clicking on the network dropdown menu then select ‘Optimism’.
Select ‘Swap’ on the bottom navigation bar then select ‘Buy Crypto’.
Select the account you want to purchase ETH for.
Select the token you would like to buy. We will choose ETH for this example.
Select the amount you would like to purchase.
Then select your preferred provider.
Once you receive your ETH, you are ready to start swapping on Optimism!
Make sure you are on the Optimism network at the top left.
You can change the network by clicking on the network dropdown menu then select ‘Optimism’.
Select ‘Swap’ on the bottom navigation bar then select ‘Swap tokens’.
If you have multiple accounts, you can change which one you want to swap with at the top right dropdown menu.
Select the ‘ETH’ dropdown menu to change the token you want to swap.
Select the token you want to swap. We will choose ETH for this example.
Select the ‘Select token’ dropdown to choose the token you want to swap to.
Select the token you want. In this example, we will choose LayerZero (ZRO).
Enter the amount you want to trade then select ‘Preview swap’.
You will be presented with the best offer from our swap providers.
If there are more offers you can select ‘Other Offers’ to view them. Select the offer with your preferred trade rate.
You can select the amount you would like to pay for the transaction fee.
You can select ‘Proceed with Swap’ once you are satisfied with the exchange rate and transaction fee.
Your swap should be initiated once you confirm the swap. You can click ‘View progress’ to view your swap details.
You should be able to see your swap in progress, if it is still pending.
Once the swap is completed you should see that it now displays ‘Swapped’ under the transaction.
You can also view your swapped tokens in your wallet by going back to the ‘Wallet’ home page then click on your colorful account card to view your wallet holdings.
You should see that your swapped tokens are now in your Optimism wallet. In this case our ETH was swapped to LayerZero (ZRO).
